The Simulation Was Breaking
Long before COVID hit in 2020, the signs were already there. Overworked teachers and nurses leaving their jobs. Schools not built for every kind of learner. Families choosing homeschooling or world schooling instead. Gun violence in classrooms. People leaving the U.S. entirely for a better life elsewhere.
On top of that, the college degree was losing its value — the very thing that pushed me into a tech bootcamp in 2019. Inflation hit everyone, no apologies. Even with a job, you needed two or three more just to survive. Buying a house felt impossible. Student debt kept climbing. It felt like walking through a house on fire while it snowed indoors — and everyone pretending that was normal.
I saw it up close in 2021, working at a call center helping people apply for COVID utility assistance. Single moms. Elders with no one but a librarian to help them fill out a form. People who had jobs and still couldn't keep the lights on. Some got help. Many didn't, and I was the one who had to tell them.
What broke me wasn't the outcome — it was realizing I couldn't do anything beyond what I was told to do. The disorganization wasn't a resource problem. It was a system too incoherent to help itself, let alone the people depending on it.
That's when it hit me: the institutions built to help humanity survive are showing cracks in their foundation. Not because anyone meant for it to happen — we were sold reliability, and we built our lives around the promise of it. But the design has stopped serving us. And that means we have to start looking out for ourselves too.
What Saved Me
I started studying astrology and Human Design that same year, at the call center, just trying to understand myself better. Two things made everything click.
The first: the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix. In Human Design, humanity shifts global themes every 400 years. Since 1616, we've been in the Cross of Planning — the era of tribes, institutions, "I'll care for you if you do the same for me." In February 2027, we shift into the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix: individuality. Trusting yourself. Leading yourself. Building your own abundance.
The second: Pluto has been transiting Aquarius — the sign of systems, networks, and disruption — for the better part of 20 years. A planet of transformation, sitting in the sign of systems, right as the systems themselves start failing. That's not coincidence.
I watched it play out again in November 2025, when a government shutdown left families without food stamps for a month. The pattern keeps repeating.
Why Shidoni Code Studios Exists
Shidoni is my name, Cydney, in Japanese. Astrology and Human Design are my codes — the way I make sense of myself and the world. This studio is what I wish had existed for me: not just a warning about what's coming, but a place to build real independence from the systems that are failing.
