on august 25, 2026, the incomparable Dolly Parton passed away at the age of 80. when seeing everything Dolly accomplished and the way she carried herself, she truly was one of a kind, and no one will ever compare to her. but something about Dolly that sticks out that isn’t talked about enough is that she never needed to rebrand herself.
and that’s why i believe everything she did came with ease.

throughout Dolly’s life, everyone tried to tell her to tone it down every year, but her response was always that she didn’t need to. and that’s what made her recognizable to old and new fans, no matter the age.
you can always recognize Dolly by her signature big hair, nails, silhouette, and voice, no matter where you were in life, because Dolly never had a reason to change anything, because toning down meant making others happy. and that’s not what Dolly stood for.
Dolly was going to be herself no matter what was going on with everyone else. because of this, it paid her in dividends and will do so even with her being gone now. here’s how:
she started the Imagination Library because her father couldn’t read or write. this lets children up to the age of 5 receive a book from Dolly to help them with reading. Dolly used what she saw from her father as a need to fill for other children, showing how she wasn’t ashamed of where she came from and instead used it to pour into others in the most clever way possible. imagination library expanded to five countries and more than 332 million books have been mailed to children since 1995.
she created the DollyWood theme park as a family park for all ages, and it was located in Sevier County, her hometown in Tennessee. what once was a struggling theme park, Dolly bought it and reinvested into it to create a world centered around her, her family, and the beauty of the place where she grew up. she even has many people who are from the county who work there right now, pouring back into the community she knows well.
she wrote the song I Will Always Love You and while it was a hit, she found herself having to make a hard decision that would make her a fortune. Elvis Presley wanted to record it, and the price offered to earn royalties was half of the publishing rights. Dolly said no and cried all night about it. Then, years later, the star and co-producer of The Bodyguard, Kevin Costner, suggested that Whitney Houston cover the track. Houston's 1992 cover for The Bodyguard soundtrack became a massive global hit. it earned Parton millions in royalties, which Parton famously used to invest in a Black neighborhood in Nashville, calling it "the house that Whitney built".
these are just a few moments that’s proof that Dolly stayed true to who she was. she owned her assets, stayed true to herself even when it was uncomfortable for others to accept, and used her story to build a world where everyone’s welcome and gave back to others. on top of all of that, she was incredibly talented and exuded a kindness that felt angelic, as if it radiated from her body and felt natural for her. she spoke out against injustice so everyone could feel safe.
these qualities are what made her an example of someone who doesn’t need to rebrand themselves since their foundation was set on who they were from the very beginning.

following Dolly’s lead of staying true to oneself is a valuable piece of knowledge we all should take with us going forward.
with us going into the cross of the sleeping phoenix era, we’ll be entering into an energetic frequency where the focus is more individualistic than it ever will be.
for you as a creator (as a personal brand), this is going to require many people to be brave enough to stand out in whatever venture. the way you stand out isn’t by causing a scandal, it’s by you being true to who you are. when you’re true to yourself, things come easy, and opportunities will naturally find you. that’s the foundation to have, and it’s one that kept Dolly timeless even after all these years.
think about the definition of rebranding.
rebranding: the marketing strategy of changing or updating the name, logo, design, messaging, or overall identity of an established company or product to create a new public perception.
it’s understandable if a creator may rebrand because they may see that their business is going in a different direction, and it’s a genuine move that’ll be best for them overall, but it’s something completely different when rebranding happens every 3 months or even a shorter time than that.
what that speaks to is whether the brand really is true to itself or if they are doing what they do based on what they believe will attract people to them. for example, if you’re a creator and you decide to brand yourself as a big fan of matcha and pilates, but you know deep down that’s not really who you are and that you’re only that way because you see that’s what’s trending right now, then all you’re doing is deceiving people.
a brand that is true to itself won’t need to rebrand itself multiple times.
their audiences don’t need to be reintroduced to them several times.
they wouldn’t need to change the tone of their brand based on the seasons or what’s trending since that changes all the time.
they don’t have to start over from zero and have people erase from their minds what they used to know them for.
being timeless means you’re not affected by the times. it means your brand is good or relevant no matter how many years go by.

so where do you go from here with all of this?
if the plan for you as an online creator is to withstand time and be one that people want to continuously come back to even after you’re long gone, then you need to think about your foundation your brand has. you have to not only think long enough about what this looks like, you also have to be brave enough to share what this authentically looks like.
so, what does your authentic foundation look like?
if your authentic foundation is that you love to be loud, talk about your favorite foods and how to cook but you’re a bit chaotic in doing it, then that’s your foundation. the power you then need to create is how to do this in a way that feels good to you. maybe you grew up cooking a certain way, what atmosphere was that like? invite audiences in to this energy and environment.
ask yourself these questions:
what energy do i want to create in my space?
what would make somebody feel at home here?
then once you know your environment, start standing firm on that sh*t. be willing to be polarizing, not in a way where it doesn’t benefit you; this should feel natural to you. polarization is where profits, loyalty, and sales are. your edge is what makes people choose to connect with you. some people will love you while others will hate you. this is a good thing!
remember: the safer you are, the more forgettable you become.
so, your sovereign assignment? no more rebranding. BUT only do so if it means you build on the foundation of being your true self. from your true self comes your tribe, opportunities, income, and so much more!
